A difficult and very hard childhood was a motivator for the young person in this story to not only survive but to excel in her quest for a better life. A lot of things that we take for granted was earned through hard work and persistence for this young person. Not only did she had to live without many comforts of the western world, but she had to take care of her younger siblings and take on the role of their mother. Even through tough obstacles this young person managed to finish high school and managed to come to Slovenia as part of the European volunteering programme (EVS), where many new possibilities opened up for her.
